breakfast...the most important meal of the day

Best places for vegan breakfast:

Penny Cluse Cafe...get ready to...wait! But if you need a half hour to work up your appetite, this is the place to go. Freshly-squeezed tangerine juice, coffee with soymilk, and flavor-bursting tofu scramble make for a good start to your day. Unfortunately some items on the menu aren't vegan that could be, like polenta or homefries.

Magnolia Bistro has a pretty good breakfast, but can be inconsistent. Get a side of fruit! The vegan french toast is a bit dry sometimes, and the veggie sausage isn't vegan :( Tofu scrams are tasty but can be unbelievably tiny. Their strawberry jam is homemade and incredible.

Nunyuns Bakery & Deli in the North End has a tasty vegan breakfast of homefries, toast and tempeh bacon. The owners are really nice, hopefully they will start making vegan pastry too.

City Market for something simple - a bagel with Tofutti cream cheese, for example. Personally I was disappointed by the blandness of the Humane Society breakfast sandwich. (And what's up with the "Hippie Cooler" sign over the vegetarian case?)

If you're willing to go a little further, try...
Sneakers Bistro & Cafe in Winooski. They have seitan hash and breakfast burritos and will substitute tofu for eggs for $1.95 extra. Be prepared to wait though! Lunch starts after 11am.
