ohhh changes...

Sadly, the New Ethic Cafe I raved about ceased to exist last year. Several other changes have occurred as well:
- The Bluebird Tavern on Riverside has opened up. Sadly they do not offer anything vegan to my knowledge, which is a pity because I've heard their food is great.
- Das Bierhaus opened. Nothing vegan (it's all about the bratwurst).
- The Farmhouse Tap & Grill also opened. They have a good vegan burger made with Vermont Soy Tofu, and a few interesting sides/apps. The portobello burger is NOT vegan. Unfortunately none of their entrees are vegan either.
- Bella Farm (in the Intervale) began offering their delicious vegan pesto via the Burlington Farmers Market & City Market. The Vermont Hummus Company has also begun selling to these two venues. If you can make it to the market, try the pumpkin hummus! It's delectable.

Other changes on the vegan pastry front (aka "How to satisfy my horrible sweet tooth"):
- Radio Bean no longer serves vegan cookies and cinnamon rolls :( ... but they have opened a restaurant, Duino (Duende), which usually has some good, satisfying international dishes like falafel, and my personal favorite, a dish with lentils, almonds, and caramelized onions.
- About once a week, Uncommon Grounds has vegan muffins. Haven't tried them yet. They also often have vegan cinnamon rolls.
- I don't know if I just didn't realize it, but in the morning on weekdays City Market has the best vegan muffins around. (They're in the case across from the bulk olives.) They continue to sell "vegan yumyums" (sort of like coffeecake with fruit), and vegan chocolate chip cookies that they make in-house.

On the horizon:
-Church and Main will be opening soon. Seven Days reported that the chef's girlfriend/wife (?)is a vegetarian, and they will therefore be offering an inventive vegan dish or two.
